MINI Recharged is now taking orders for its electric conversions for the Mini, with prices starting at £42,000 for customers who supply their own vehicle.

The company can also source a Mini for customers and prices for this option begin at £62,000, while the firm’s Bespoke range is more expensive still.

Designed and built in the UK, with approval from BMW, MINI Recharged has designed is EV conversion so the original Mini remains as it was with its petrol engine. No new holes are drilled and the conversion is completely reversible.

There are two modes available with the car: Pure and Sport. The Pure mode offers 0-62mph in 11.5 seconds and 78mph flat out, while the Sport setting improves those figures to 8.5 seconds and 92mph, respectively.

With a 6.6kW onboard charger, the MINI Recharged can be charged in three hours using a 7kW home wall box or nine hours with a standard three-pin sockets. Driving range on a fully charged battery is 103 miles.

Recharged Heritage director Tom Festa said: ‘We attach great importance in ensuring that MINI Recharged conversions retain the authenticity of the original vehicle when we marry it to the latest 21st Century EV technology. Not only does this idea underline the legacy of the traditional British brand, but also demonstrates British engineering excellence fit for the future.’
